Project management: Public Service Hub - Wyre Forest

Creating a new multi-agency public service hub for the Wyre Forest area, to comprise Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, West Mercia Police, the Severn Area Rescue Association and community facilities. This received support from the Government's One Public Estate Programme.

The brief

The brief was to improve services and efficiencies for the benefit of Wyre Forest residents by developing state of the art combined operational and training facilities for the 'Blue Light' and rescue services. Initial site identification was key as the new Hub was to replace a number of dispersed, outdated facilities.

Our approach

We adopted a collaboration approach between shareholders in order to achieve the present brief. An initial analysis of future requirements was completed with sensitivity to the different shareholders interests, all with the value for money objective in mind.

Services we provided

  • site identification
  • design team-led project management
  • pre-planning consultation
  • stakeholder engagement
  • full procurement and tender analysis
  • quantity surveying
  • risk management
  • energy consulting

The results

Delivery of a 'State of the Art' Multi-Agency Hub which will serve the community for decades to come.

The Wyre Forest Hub replaced 3 former fire stations and has driven service transformation by increasing the close collaboration of Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, West Mercia Police and the Severn Rescue Association as well as building links with local community where a group of schoolchildren from the local school embedded a time capsule as part of the build. We are delighted to have successfully delivered a community facility of regional importance.
